Désigné par le Rwanda pour être son nouvel ambassadeur à Bruxelles, Vincent Karega est déclaré “persona non grata”.
Le royaume de Belgique a pris la décision de ne pas accorder l’agrément diplomatique à ce dernier pour des raisons qui ne sont pas encore officielles.
Dans la foulée de ce refus d’accréditation, le ministère belge des Affaires étrangères n’a fait aucun commentaire.
Mais, très officieusement, c’est pour des raisons personnelles que la Belgique décide de ne pas octroyer l’accréditation diplomatique à Vincent Karega.
Il faut noter que le diplomate et ancien ministre traîne une réputation sulfureuse depuis qu’il a été ambassadeur en Afrique du Sud.
Il y a neuf ans, renseigne RFI, Pretoria avait accusé Kigali de persécuter des opposants rwandais sur le territoire sud-africain.
A rappeler que Vincent Karega était notamment en poste lors de l’assassinat de l’opposant Patrick Karegeya en janvier 2014.
En tout cas, la décision belge ne risque pas d’améliorer les relations avec le Rwanda.
